Krishnan Guru-Murthy has revealed he is having a career shake-up following his Strictly Come Dancing stint.
The Channel 4 News journalist, 53, said that his son Jay, 16, who played at Glastonbury with his group Askew, has inspired him to get a band together.
Speaking to The Times, Krishnan said: ‘I got him into guitars and now I’m thinking of getting a band back together.’
In 2021, the presenter revealed a friend returned his 30-year-old electric guitar that he borrowed when they were younger.
And he previously revealed his old bandmate Tim Hincks was the reason he met his current wife Lisa Guru-Murthy – although it is unknown what Krishnan’s band was called.
He said: ‘Tim worked with me on a show and introduced me to Lisa, who worked with his wife, Pippa.
‘Now, much more importantly, we play in a band together.
‘But we don’t talk rock’n’roll in front of wives – they don’t take us seriously.’
Earlier this month, Krishnan broke down in tears during on Strictly Come Dancing spinoff It Takes Two following his departure from the competition.
The newsreader and his professional partner Lauren Oakley ended in the dreaded dance off at the weekend after landing at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Krishnan faced Angela Rippon and her dance partner Kai Widdrington as both stars tried to impress the judges one final time – with Angela being saved by the judges.
Joining host Fleur East, the duo reminisced about their time on the show and discussed their final performance.
Tearfully, Krishnan admitted: ‘It’s been life changing, it genuinely has. No one will miss this show as much as I will.’
Fleur passed the tissues as the newsreader and Lauren wiped away their tears, as e continued: ‘I went into it with a different mindset because I was aware that it might be my last dance so I really wanted to enjoy it.
‘I wasn’t just about the perfromance I was in a slightly different headspace than normal. I wanted to remember it as our last dance, if it was to be our last dance.’
It comes after Strictly Come Dancing fans have once again accused the show of being a ‘fix’ after Krishnan was sent home on Sunday night.
Performing first in the dance off they danced the Samba to Bamboléo by Gipsy Kings, before Angela danced a Paso Doble to Hung Up by Madonna.
After both couples took to the floor for a second time judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all opted to save Angela.
Angela and Kai won the majority vote keeping them in the competition, but head judge Shirley Ballas said she would have decided to save Krishnan and Lauren.
