Katie Price admits she ‘mentally can’t face court’ after her shock suicide attempt as news of second bankruptcy breaks on Straight To The Comments!

Katie Price has revealed she ‘mentally can’t face court’ after her shock suicide attempt as she reacted to the news of her second bankruptcy.

The former glamour model, 45, has been declared bankrupt for a second time after failing to pay over £750,000 in unpaid tax – and will now face losing her home unless HMRC can recover the money.

Earlier this week, she failed to appear at a court hearing in London with an official from HMRC saying she had failed to pay any money owed or responded to any correspondence since the demand was made for the unpaid tax last year.

When the news broke Katie was speaking exclusively to the Mail’s comedy podcast, Straight To The Comments! which embraces the hilarity and uniqueness of the MailOnline comment section with the celebs in question.

In a teaser for the episode, which is set to air on Monday, she discussed her bankruptcy with producer Jamie East and host Josh Pieters admitting that ‘when you ignore it, it just gets worse.’

Katie Price, 45, has revealed she ‘mentally can’t face court’ after her shock suicide attempt as she reacted to the news of her second bankruptcy.

When told a story about her had just broke, Katie gasped in shock and said: ‘Has it? Oh get lost! Are you actually serious, while I’m sat here? What have I done now?’

After hearing that she had been declared bankrupt a second time, she said she had been signed off because of ‘serious stuff’ in her life.

She continued: ‘I just can’t cope with going to a court. Mentally, I can’t do it.’

Josh asked when her debts started accumulating, with Katie explaining: ‘Since my breakdown. When you are ill and depressed everything accumulates.

‘If you can’t cope with something or you haven’t paid that bill. Communicate, don’t ignore because when you ignore it, it just gets worse.

‘It does upset me because they don’t know how hard I’ve tried mentally to get out of that rut that I was in. A rut that I hung myself and thought I’d died.’

Katie previously revealed to MailOnline that she was raped at gunpoint during her 2018 carjacking in South Africa, which eventually led her to suffer a mental breakdown.

She detailed the traumatic events that led her to reach breaking point, suffering a failed suicide attempt where she tried to hang herself, ‘knocked herself out and had black eyes’ – after which she sought treatment for PTSD.

In September 2021, Katie was arrested for drink-driving after flipping her uninsured BMW X5 on its side on a country lane near her home in West Sussex.

Katie admitted drink-driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at court, and immediately checked into The Priory following the arrest.

She was handed a 16-week suspended sentence and two-year ban at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.

Following the incident Katie said she was having therapy once a week and how, at her lowest point, tried to take her own life.

In her hard-hitting Channel 4 documentary, which was filmed in the aftermath of her car crash in September 2021, Katie also admitted the accident finally helped her realise she needed help, and she checked into rehab.

On Monday, Katie was declared bankrupt for a second time after failing to pay over £750,000 in unpaid tax – and will now face losing her home unless HMRC can recover the money.

The former glamour model failed to appear at a court hearing in London to explain why she has not paid any money to HMRC.

A judge at the High Court ruled that she be declared bankrupt after an official from HMRC said she has failed to pay any money owed or responded to any correspondence since the demand was made for the unpaid tax last year.

It is the second bankruptcy faced by Price as she is being chased by creditors for a £3.2million payment over the failure of her company Jordan Trading Ltd.

Judge Sebastion Prentis sitting at the High Court Rolls Building said Price had been served with a petition on November 27 2023 with a demand for £761,994.05.

‘It does upset me because they don’t know how hard I’ve tried mentally to get out of that rut that I was in. A rut that I hung myself and thought I’d died,’ she said

The huge amount is made up of unpaid tax from self-assessment on her earnings from2020 – 2022 as well as penalties and surcharges.

The court was told she owed £142,405 in tax for 2020-2021 and £196,735 for 2021-2022.

The judge said she also owed £140,000 in unpaid VAT and added:’ As with the unpaid tax no payment has been made.’

Price was served with papers in October by HMRC informing her of the debt owed – and she has failed to respond to the demand.

The judge said: ‘There is a substantial debt due from Miss Price due to HMRC and therefore I will make a bankruptcy order.’

Price was first made bankrupt in 2019 when her company went bust.

She has failed to appear at an insolvency hearing on six previous occasions with the model submitting an excuse for her no show each time.

Creditors are owed the £3.2million from her company selling perfume and cosmetics.

A HMRC source said every effort will be made to recover the money and if not paid then assets owed by Price will be seized.

The debt to HMRC could see her lose her £2million mansion dubbed ‘Mucky Mansion’ after it fell into a state of disrepair.

The latest court judgement adds to the woes of Price who last week was fined for another motoring offence.

She was fined £880 after being caught driving a Range Rover at a service station on the A14 in Kettering, Northamptonshire in August 2023 despite having no licence or insurance.

As well as being handed eight penalty points – taking her total to 11 – the mother-of-five was also ordered to pay £972 in costs on top of the financial penalty.
