Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has given his seal of approval to Gio Reyna’s transfer to Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old completed the loan move from Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season. Forest will reportedly pay his full salary until June.
A statement released by Forest read: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Gio Reyna from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old has joined the club on a loan deal until the end of the season. Born in Sunderland, Reyna arrives at The City Ground having made 121 appearances for Dortmund since joining the Bundesliga club from New York City FC in 2019, winning the German Cup with the Black and Yellows in 2021.

“The versatile forward has also played 24 times for the USA national team since making his international debut in November 2020, scoring seven goals, and won two CONCACAF Nations League titles with his country in 2020 and 2023. Gio will wear the number 20 shirt during his time on Trentside. Welcome to Forest, Gio!”
As he took to social media platform Instagram, Reyna wrote: “So excited to be here! Can’t wait to get started! Let’s gooo.” His post prompted reaction from Bellingham who responded with the word ‘brother’ followed by a love heart.
The pair spent three years playing together at Dortmund, before Bellingham completed a €103million transfer to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2023.
The Reds have until Thursday, February 1 to complete any additional signings before the window slams shut at 11pm.
