James Madison commented on John Terry’s Instagram post after the former Chelsea captain took to social media to mock Tottenham for their loss to the Blues on Monday.

The former England international took to Instagram to celebrate the fact Chelsea beat Tottenham 4-1 away from after both Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off.

He shared several pictures of himself dancing on the bar with his wife and wrote the accompanying caption: ‘When Chelsea beat Spurs 4-1 on a school night and the tequila comes out, and you end up dancing and singing on the bar.’

Madison – who was forced off the pitch with an ankle injury at the end of the first half – was quick to respond to Terry saying: ‘Jesus, u have ur eyes closed when it was 11 v 11 first 15 JT?.’

Terry replied with three laughing face emojis and the words: ‘Madders, don’t worry mate you will get used to it’ – implying Chelsea will continue to beat Tottenham going forwards.’

Despite jumping to Tottenham’s defence on social media, Maddison will be disappointed with his team’s performance and the end result on Monday evening.

In a frenetic affair, Spurs were reduced to nine men following red cards for Romero and  Udogie against London rivals Chelsea.

But despite their two-man disadvantage, Postecoglou instructed his players to keep a remarkable high line, with eight outfield players often at the halfway line.

It’s safe to say the game was a chaotic one given there were five goals ruled out, five goals scored, two red cards, seven yellow cards and a number of injuries.

Maddison was one of those forced off the pitch with an injury – joining the likes of Micky van de Ven on the bench after he picked up a hamstring issues.

Maddison went to ground untouched in the box, clutching his ankle. He tried to get up and play on but was replaced by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg just before the half-time break.

Reflecting post-match on his injury, Postecoglou appeared to alleviate any long-term fears. While Maddison’s playful nature on social media indicates he may be chirpier than expected.

The Tottenham manager said: ‘He [Maddison] got a knock on the ankle, we were down one man already,’ he said. ‘It made sense to make a couple of changes at that point.’
