Harry Styles looked completely unrecognizable after shaving off his famous locks while attending U2’s show at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend.
And, after images emerged of the 29-year-old star’s buzzcut on TMZ, social media users raced to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to his new haircut, which many described as ‘unhinged.’
Some, even, compared the move to when Britney Spears infamously shaved her head in front of paparazzi in 2007.
‘To everyone posting the pic Harry Styles with his shaved head, please stop it’s hurting me emotionally, mentally and physically,’ one wrote.
Another joked: ‘Now he’s just styles.’
Other marveled that they never thought they would ‘see the headline ‘Harry Styles has shaved his head.”
The English heartthrob debuted his new haircut on a date night with his girlfriend Taylor Russell, just days, after rumors emerged that he cut off his luscious curls.
While out with Russell, 29, and a group of friends, the three-time Grammy winner was spotted sans his signature haircut while listening to the Irish rock band perform their greatest hits.
During the concert, Styles wrapped his arm around his lover and reportedly spent the night exchanging ‘a lot of little kisses’ and taking selfies together, according to TMZ.
At one point, their friend group danced in a circle ‘toward the end of the night.’
After the gossip site, DeuxMoi, shared an image of Styles’ new look, some fans began to wonder if his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift had anything to do with it.
Harry and Taylor had a brief romance between 2012 and 2013, during which time she wrote her album 1989, with fans long speculating that some of the songs were about their romance.
Last week, Taylor released the re-recorded version of her album, which features the track, Now That We Don’t Talk (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault), with fans claiming her lyric ‘you grew your hair long’ in the second verse references Harry’s decision to grow out his hair following their split.
Fans shared on X: ‘Taylor Swift released 1989 TV with lyrics about Harry Styles saying how she didn’t like how he changed/got long hair after they ended, so he immediately took notes/got a buzzcut!’; ‘Taylor Swift gagged Harry Styles so bad he shaved his head. What is this life we’re living’/
‘Harry styles did WHAT to his hair???’; ‘ Harry styles but no hair to style’; ‘I think the world fell apart after harry styles cut off his long hair’; ‘I do not buy Harry Styles shaving his hair off. Absolutely not. Not having it.
‘Harry styles stick your hair back on right now’; ‘Harry styles you have 48 hours to grow your hair out of a buzzcut. less than 48 hours even.’
Taylor recently got fans talking after she branded an unnamed ex-boyfriend – thought to be Harry – a ‘lying traitor’ in previously unreleased songs on the new version of 1989.
On one of the new songs, Is It Over Now, Taylor hits out at a former partner for being a ‘lying traitor’ and sleeping with a series of models after they broke up.
On another new song, called ‘S**t!’, Taylor sings about the public backlash she received for dating an unnamed heartthrob, with many speculating it could be Harry.
She sings: ‘I will pay the price you won’t / And if they call me a s**t, you know it might be worth it for once / And if I’m going to be drunk I might as well be drunk in love.
‘He’s waiting there. The sticks and stones they throw froze midair / ‘Everyone wants him, that was my crime / The wrong place at the right time . . . I break down and he’s pulling me in / In a world of boys, he is a gentleman.’
Along with Harry, Taylor has also dated DJ Calvin Harris, guitarist John Mayer, film star Jake Gyllenhaal, actor Joe Alwyn and The 1975’s Matty Healy.
She is currently in a relationship with American footballer Travis Kelce.
Meanwhile, Harry has been dating Russell, an actress, since this summer.
The pair were first romantically linked after they were spotted enjoying an art gallery date in London in June.
Since then, the pair have enjoyed various outings together as they take their romance to new heights.
The Watermelon Sugar singer reportedly ‘sees a future’ and is ‘head over heels for Taylor,’ a source revealed to Us Weekly last month before noting that he ‘loves spending as much time with her as he can’.
