Shaughna Phillips has candidly revealed how she’s put on five stone and ‘struggles’ with her post-partum figure seven months after welcoming daughter Lucia.
The Love Island star, 29, who found fame on the ITV reality show in 2020, also spoke of the pressure of being in the public eye and how cruel trolls constantly tell her to lose weight.
Speaking on her new podcast Oh Baby! Shaughna explained: ‘One thing that I definitely struggle with? I don’t look like myself. I can’t dress the way I want to dress because my body’s not the way it used to be’.
‘You [After giving birth] not only have this new body that you’re trying to navigate but you have no time for yourself to try and get into a better physical or healthier state’.
After revealing she had already lost a stone during a recent health kick she went on: ‘And I’m really trying now, but I have the added pressure of having to do that in the public eye’.
‘And just this morning I had people going, I think you really need to lose the weight now.’
Later taking to her Instagram Stories Shaughna joked that despite losing 14lbs she still had ‘another three hundred to go’.
Elsewhere during her podcast appearance the stunner hit back at the body shamers and said defiantly: ‘I can’t tell you how much they do not bother me. I don’t care’.
‘I’ve had real s*** in my life that people on Instagram telling me I need to lose weight or going, do you know that you’ve gained weight? Have I?’.
Shaughna continued: ‘You’re telling me I’ve gained five stone and I haven’t realised. Of course I’ve bloody realized, okay? But it’s trying to be present in the moment.
‘Like I’ve literally said to my friends, I’m not going out until I’ve lost weight. And I know that’s such a toxic way to think, but I don’t know how to navigate trying to lose weight, trying to look after this baby, trying to do it in the public eye.’
It comes after the reality TV favourite revealed she would never want her daughter to watch repeats of her appearance on Love Island as she confirmed she is no longer in a relationship and embracing life as a single mum.
She said: ‘I love Love Island but If I can get away with Lucia not knowing what Love Island is, I’ve won.
‘The thought of Lucia watching my Love Island season when she’s older – I will need a lot of therapy!’.
‘And I would do my absolute best to make sure she doesn’t even know what Love Island is.’
The influencer, who appeared on season six of the ITV 2 reality TV dating show divulged that she does not recognise the ‘good time girl,’ she once appeared to be.
‘If I watched that season back it would just be like me watching it as a viewer. I’d be like, I don’t know these people,’ said the podcaster.
‘We’ve all grown up, we’re all just different people now.’
In a candidly honest conversation between the two mothers – who gave birth only days apart – Shaughna shared that she wears her single mother title as ‘a badge of honour.
Lucia’s father, Billy, was charged with one count of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and one count of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs on 21 January.
‘I don’t have any guilt about being a single Mum it’s just the hand of cards that I was dealt,’ reflected the lifestyle influencer.
‘I just hope that one day Lucia doesn’t write a diss track about me!’
