The heartbroken husband of a woman who jumped from a 36th floor in New York has said he is left “devastated”.
Alina Page, 35, was found severely injured outside The Birttany in the city’s Upper East Side and was rushed to hospital. She sadly passed away shortly after.
Alina, her husband, Brian, and their two children were residing in their £7,500 per month flat at the time of the incident. According to the Mirror, sources suggest she may have leaped from the rooftop terrace of the posh building.
A NYPD spokesperson stated her injuries were consistent with a fall and there were no signs of foul play were detected in her death. Investigations, are, however, still underway.
Speaking to the New York Post, grief-stricken Brian said: “She was the love of my life, my soulmate. I am devastated.” They were 11 days away from celebrating 16 years of marriage.
The couple relocated to New York in 2021 from Temple, Texas, along with their two kids. Alina, who was born in Russia, often expressed her love for her home and family on social media by sharing heartwarming photos.
Initial reports said the mum-of-two was fighting for her life after being found on the pavement in the plush area. But it turned out she died from her injuries after being taken to hospital.
People living in the building told reporters it’s hard to fall out by accident because of safety features.
One person said: “The railing is really tall … I would say at least 4 feet. [The windows] don’t open. They crack. All of them have child safety. I have small cats so they wouldn’t be able to fit through. So she wouldn’t.”
“I’m just glad I didn’t see it. It’s a very family-friendly building.”
