In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 4.4 million times, Geoffrey lets the popular scene play out.

Eight-year-old Kevin browses the aisles in a bid to fend for himself after his family accidentally left him at home having flown to Paris for their Christmas vacation.

Providing narration, Geoffrey begins: ‘Alright, a bunch of you guys have been asking me, how much did Kevin McCallister spend that day in comparison to today?

‘And what would it cost if he was to go to the store today?’

The social media star details all the items that Kevin takes to the checkout.

‘TV dinner, you got the Wonder Bread, the frozen Mac and cheese, Saran wrap, half gallon of milk, Tide, half gallon of orange juice, [toy] army soldiers, the Snuggle dryer sheets,’ he lists.

Kevin presents a coupon at checkout that allows for a $1 discount before the cashier reveals his total is $19.83.

Geoffrey then pans to his computer screen where he has broken down the entire costings.

He reels off the list before asking: ‘What does that come down to? The grand total of $63.73. Add on tax – $5.25 – and put it together, you get $68.99.’

The content creator said that after using a dollar coupon the total is $68 – almost 3.5 times the original cost due to inflation and the rising cost of living.

He was stunned to discover that the price was nearly 3.5 times what it had been – and viewers were left speechless
And viewers were left equally shocked as one wrote: ‘I bet the cashiers wage is still the same in 2023’

He also notes that this is an equivalent to a 248 per cent price increase in price.

Geoffrey sounds stunned as he concludes: ‘That’s how much it cost in 2023.’

And viewers were left equally shocked as one wrote: ‘I bet the cashiers wage is still the same in 2023.’

Another added: ‘$100 bill is the new $20 bill.’

And a third simply said: ‘I haaaate 2023.’

It was recently reported that Home Alone is the most rewatched holiday film with A Christmas Story and A Charlie Brown Christmas following close behind, according to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll.
