Heather Rae El Moussa revealed on Wednesday that she had gotten some new ink to celebrate the birth of her first child.
The 36-year-old wife of Tarek El Moussa shared a series of videos to her Instagram Stories unveiling a new tattoo featuring the name of her son Tristan, who was born in January of this year.
The text was slotted just below an earlier heart design that she had tucked away behind her ear.
Although she appeared jubilant to be commemorating her and Tarek’s baby boy, she showed off her ink shortly after confirming that she would not be featured in season eight of the reality series Selling Sunset.
‘Got a little something today,’ Heather captioned her first video.
She was seen lying down with her head tilted to the side as the tattoo artist worked just above her neck.
While he was carefully writing out Tristan’s name, Heather scrolling through her phone without seeming to be too affected by the pain.
Although he wasn’t glimpsed at first, Tarek revealed that he was filming the procedure when he started narrating.
‘Are you excited, honey?’ he asked his wife.
‘Oh yeah, I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time,’ she admitted.
Tarek joked: ‘I asked her to get my name, but she said, “Well, what am I going to do when I have to remove it?”‘
But Heather shot back that she has his ‘last name on’ her, to which the former Flip Or Flop star replied, ‘Yeah, that’s forever.’
Tarek captioned a subsequent closeup video with, ‘Attention to detail.’
Heather looked over the moon in the next clip as she sat up after the tattoo was completed.
‘I’m so excited to see,’ she gushed while the tattoo artists snapped a closeup for her to examine.
As she turned her head for Tarek to get a better view, she joked that it was ‘just a random Wednesday’ activity.
On her main Instagram page, Heather included a photo of herself and Tarek embracing while she was still pregnant, then added a close shot of the tattoo.
‘Before & after Tristan …it’s the little things,’ she wrote in her caption.
Heather confirmed earlier on Wednesday that she is no longer on the TV show that made her famous, Selling Sunset.
It’s not much of a surprise, however, as the former Playboy Playmate, 36, had a smaller role on season seven and is not yet mentioned for season eight of the popular Netflix series.
When sharing a photo with Selling Sunset costar Bre Tiesi on Instagram she mentioned that they are ‘not on the same show together anymore.’
The full caption read: ‘The yin to my yang. Opposite in almost every way but became besties immediately — and even though we’re not on the same show together anymore, our friendship is stronger than ever.’
In a second image, she shared a quote that talked about moving in ‘opposite directions’: ‘True friendship is when two friends can walk in opposite directions yet remain side by side,’ the quote read.
And Tiesi commented on Heather’s absence from the show too. In July, she said she was ‘devastated to lose’ her as a show regular.
‘I absolutely adore Heather,’ she told E! News. ‘I’m very sad to hear that she is not going to be as big a part.’
The mom of one had a reduced role in season seven of the show, something she noted was ‘frustrating’ earlier this year.
‘Season 7 is filming right now, but I’ve been off maternity leave and I’ve been excited to get back to work and so far I have not been called back,’ she told E! News.
‘It’s been a little frustrating. So [I’m] not sure what’s been going on,’ she added after being asked how that made her feel.
Stepping away from Selling Sunset will allow her to focus on her family and on The Flipping El Moussas, the HGTV show she and her husband Tarek El Moussa, 42, star in.
Heather also said that her priorities have changed since she and Tarek welcomed their son Tristan in January and she’s enjoying the reduced drama in her life.
‘I love being able to prioritize my family and my happiness and step away from some of the drama that Selling Sunset brought into my life,’ she told People last month.
‘A lot of things happened that I choose not to speak about, but overall I am very happy with how my life is.’
Heather and her husband are throwing all their creative energy into season two of The Flipping El Moussas.
She commented on the drastic difference on set of her new show compared to Selling Sunset.
‘I can just film with my husband now, drama free,’ she told People, adding with a laugh, ‘It is so incredible that I don’t have to worry about fighting with a girl when I go to work.’
