Music critic Mark Beaumont said that this year’s Grammys atoned for previous years that left women under-rewarded, with Taylor Swift’s historic Album of the Year win, and SZA leading this year’s nominations among the achievements.

Taylor Swift announced her next album while accepting the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

The Midnights artist announced the name and planned release date for her next project, hours after her website appeared to be down while displaying a black screen error message.

“I know that the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion from the fans,” she said. “So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years – which is that my brand new album comes out April 19, it’s called The Tortured Poets Department, I’m going to go and post the cover right now back stage, thank you I love you.”

In a drastic turn of events for rapper Killer Mike, he was arrested and handcuffed at the Grammys after winning three awards: Best Rap Album for Michael, and both Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Scientists & Engineers”.

Fresh from his fourth stint hosting the Grammy Awards, comedian Trevor Noah has shared his gratitude for the support from viewers.

“Another Grammys, another night,” he said in a video posted to X/Twitter.

Jay-Z earned a point on the unofficial Good Husband scoreboard when he used his acceptance speech to acknowledge Beyoncé’s Grammy-win record, despite never receiving the Album of the Year accolade.

The rapper took to the stage with their 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, to accept the Dr Dre Global Impact Award on Sunday, and noted the discrepancies in his wife’s Grammys recognition.

“Obviously it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music, and it’s opinion-based, but some things… I don’t want to embarass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year!” he said.

“So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work. Some of you are gonna go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. Nah, nah, nah. When I get nervous I tell the truth!”

One of the evening’s most memorable moments came when Celine Dion appeared to present the Album of the Year award.

This marked the Canadian vocalist’s first appearance since she told the world of her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis in December 2022, following which she had to cancel her world tour.

As the crowd gave her a standing ovation, Dion appeared visibly moved by the warm reception and told the audience of peers: “I love you right back.”
