Gabriel Jesus Arsenal injury latest – Sheffield United update, training missed, scan confirmed

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus sustained a potential hamstring injury during his side’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Tuesday evening. Jesus has struggled with a number of fitness problems throughout his time in north London.

The Brazilian international missed the start of the 2023/24 season with a knee issue – a reoccurrence of the problem he suffered at the World Cup last year. The former Manchester City centre-forward was withdrawn against Sevilla after two pieces of individual brilliance saw him set-up Gabriel Martinelli to score the opening goal in the dying embers of the first half.

The 25-year-old then took things into his own hands just minutes in the second-half, beating several players before curling home the second goal of the night. With all of that being said, here’s a look at the latest on his injury and how it is developing.

Latest development

Arsenal centre-forward Jesus did not take part in his side’s training session on Thursday, according to The Daily Mail. The talented frontman picked up a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League.

The results of his hamstring scan are expected on Friday. It is claimed that he is a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Sheffield United, although his issue is not expected to be a serious one.

Scan scheduled

Jesus was sent for a scan on Thursday with Arsenal facing an anxious wait over the next 24 hours to get the results. Mikel Arteta is set to speak to the media on Friday ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Sheffield United – in which an update on the Brazil international is expected.

New message

Gabriel Jesus has now sent a new message to fans after winning player of the match in the tie with Sevilla on Tuesday night. Speaking on social media, he said: “Hello, Gooners! I’m here with the player of the match trophy, thank you for your support you helped us a lot.

“A nice, good and important win tonight against Sevilla. So, thank you and let’s go!”
