Former Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has announced the heartbreaking death of beloved family member in poignant post.
The actor, 36, revealed the upsetting news that his grandad had passed away as he shared some photos to Instagram on Wednesday.
Uploading a black and white image of the duo together, he wrote: ‘Goodnight old pal.’
Chris, who played Tommy Duckworth in the programme, followed it up with a broken heart emoji.
The soap star and his grandad were close, with Chris often sharing an insight into their days out together on his social media page.

In September, they enjoyed a trip on the Northern Belle train as he shared a sweet montage of photos.
The actor captioned the post: ‘Me and my best pal, my Grandad, had a chuffing lovely day out on the Northern Belle Train!
‘We’ve actually been on it before after winning a trip on family fortunes years ago but we always said we’d do it again, and we did!!
‘Creating more priceless memories. My grandad has always been my best mate whom I cherish dearly and I absolutely love our trips away together.’
It comes after Chris revealed he’s scared he may have ‘another stoke’ one year since he was rushed to hospital with life-threatening blood clot after suffering a seizure at home.
The actor shared a health update with fans 12-months since suffering a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) which led to heart surgery.
A Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) or ‘mini-stroke’ is caused by a temporary disruption in the blood supply to part of the brain and can led to problems with movement and speech.
Chris realised something was seriously wrong after waking to discover he could no longer articulate his speech, prompting the terrified star to dial 111 from his London home and request an ambulance.

He posted a throwback photo of himself in his hospital bed saying: ‘1 year ago today. Life can change in an instant, I’ve had to make a lot of changes but things have gotten so much better’.
‘Be as positive as you can be, live life to the full and do not give up, no matter how hard things get,’.
He went on to say: ‘It’s kind of been a weird thing to wrap my head around. Part of me is worrying thinking “Am I going to have another one today”.
‘But then part of me is also super proud of how I’ve recovered. My speech is pretty much back to normal, I’ve run a marathon, I’m fit again’.
