Shoppers at Aldi, Asda, and Sainsbury’s are being urged not to consume specific products that have been taken off the shelves. Several supermarkets have had to recall a range of products because of safety worries.
The Food Standards Agency has sent out warnings to shoppers. Those who bought these items are being urged not to eat them and to give them back to the shop where they were purchased in exchange for a full refund.
Sainsbury’s and Aldi are among the retailers that have had to recall various food products recently, the Liverpool Echo. Details of the products can be found below.

Aldi
Signature Flatbreads UK is taking back its Village Bakery tortilla wraps eight pack because there could be metal in it. The FSA announced the product might have been tampered with.
Anyone who bought the item is strongly advised not to eat it. Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a complete refund.
If Aldi customers have any questions or fears, they can contact Aldi on 0800 042 0800 or visit help. aldi.co.uk. The wraps affected by the recall are the Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White in packs of 8x62g. All dates up to and including 29th April 2024 are included in the best-before period.
The FSA website states: “Signature Flatbreads UK is taking the precautionary step of recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White because of a possible presence of metal, as the product may have been tampered with. The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.”
The company said: “This is an isolated incident and is not linked to other product recall information notices, (PRINs) recently published for metal contamination. No other Aldi or Signature Flatbreads UK products are affected.” The website added that Signature Flatbreads UK is “working with the relevant food and police agencies to investigate the cause of the contamination”.
Asda
Asda has recalled Taj Chopped Spinach 450g because it might contain small pieces of metal. If you have bought any of this product with a Best Before date of 01-2026 (Jan 2026), you can return it to your nearest store for a full refund.
You don’t need your receipt. Asda said: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations 0800 952 0101.”
Sainsbury’s
The FSA said Sainsbury’s is recalling its “by Sainsbury’s Flaked Almonds” because they may contain Salmonella – an infection that makes people sick and can cause fever, diarrhoea and cramps.
Sainsbury’s said: “As a precautionary measure, Sainsburys are recalling the above By Sainsburys Flaked Almonds 200g, as they may contain Salmonella, that may cause illness if consumed. If you have bought one of the affected batches of this product, we advise you not to consume it.”

“No other products are affected by this recall. Sainsburys would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
