A fire has broken out at a Merseyside high school this evening.
Fire engines were called to the blaze at Maricourt Catholic High School on Damfield Lane, just off Hall Lane, in Maghull this evening (Saturday). Crews were alerted at 9.40pm and arrived on scene seven minutes later.
At the school, firefighters found two industrial bins on fire in a storage area. One video showed large flames outside the school as smoke billowed into the air. People expressed their concern on social media after hearing about the blaze this evening.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was extinguished with a high pressure hose reel before firefighters left the scene at 10.08pm.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews were called to a fire at Maricourt High School in Maghull this evening. Two fire engines were in attendance.
“Crews were alerted at 9.40pm and on scene at 9.47pm. On arrival, crews found two industrial bins on fire in a bin storage area. The fire was extinguished with a high pressure hose reel before firefighters left the scene at 10.08pm.”
