Every First Party Xbox Game Will Launch Day One on Game Pass – Sarah Bond

Xbox executives are under a lot of fire as of late as questions surrounding their business, including the closing of multiple beloved studios, have put a lot of pressure on the brand. Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, was interviewed by Bloomberg’s Dina Bass just days after the news and was asked many questions, including the future of the console and about Game Pass.

In the interview, Bond reiterated a question that has been on the top of a lot of people’s minds lately; will every first party xbox game continue to launch directly into Game Pass?

Here’s her exact quote from the video above.

Sarah: “And the last piece is about game pass. We know our core users love game pass, game pass is a gaming subscription, you get a whole portfolio of games, but importantly you get every single one of the games we build day one in game pass. And the quality and the breadth of those games has only been going up over time. And you’re going to see some more really big games going into Game Pass later this year.”

Dina: “From Activision’s portfolio or?”

Sarah: “Across the whole slate, across the whole slate, you’re going to see some really amazing things. And keeping that as something that is really special for Xbox players is central to us.”

Bond very clearly states that every first party xbox game will launch day one on Game Pass. This is something that has been reiterated by Xbox executives multiple times, but many fans have taken issue with Xbox’s frequency of going back on previous statements.

The big upcoming test to see if this remains true will be Call of Duty, which is expected to be showcased at Xbox’s upcoming event in June. If Bond is true to her word, we should expect to see a big “Game Pass” logo when the platforms for the game are announced. We will have to wait and see how this all unfolds next month.
