Everton secured their fifth consecutive Premier League win and clean sheet at Goodison Park with a 1-0 victory over the Blades. The Toffees created an xG of 1.73 in an impressive first-half display, with Doucoure denied twice by Foderingham before breaking the deadlock. A tame header was saved before the midfielder got onto the end of a cutback from Calvert-Lewin, but the goalkeeper made an excellent stop at close range. However, Doucoure then netted next to the goal after brilliant work from Calvert-Lewin, who rounded Foderingham before lifting a cross to him for a simple finish. The second half failed to get going, with neither side having a shot on target. The Blades went close when Brereton Diaz got onto the end of a cross from Lowe, but he headed over. Garner then should’ve doubled Everton’s lead in stoppage time. However, he lifted his first-time striker above the bar. Everton will end the season with a trip to Premier League challengers Arsenal, with the Blades hosting Tottenham. That’s all, goodbye.

Everton vs Sheffield United

16:39

The Blades have lost their final away game in each of their last four Premier League campaigns, with their last success coming at Everton in the 1992-93 season (2-0). They have only had one shot on target so far and not putting Everton under enough pressure. United keep giving the ball away too easily.

Everton vs Sheffield United

Since losing 6-0 to Chelsea, Everton have won three and drawn one of their four Premier League games. They last had a longer run without defeat between August and October 2022 (six). They have been in complete control so far and have not really been troubled by the Blades’ attack.

Everton vs Sheffield United

Everton vs Sheffield United

16:14

Onana has the first shot of the second half, but his first-time effort from the edge deflects behind for a corner. Everton work the following set-piece to the edge of the box, but Gueye lifts his effort well over the bar. It looks like it takes an obvious deflection, but a goal-kick is given.

Everton vs Sheffield United

16:14

Everton remain in control and are pushing the ball around without much pressure. Coleman had the most touches of any Toffees player in the first half and looks desperate to make an impact in what could be his final outing at Goodison Park.

Everton vs Sheffield United

16:12

The Blades have drawn one and lost 15 of their games when trailing at half-time in the Premier League this season. Wilder will be expecting a reaction from his side, but Everton have enjoyed almost all of the possession since the restart.

Everton vs Sheffield United

16:07

Everton get the ball rolling again. A repeat of their second-half performance would almost certainly be enough to secure a fifth straight home win and a clean sheet.

Everton vs Sheffield United

Everton deserve to be ahead at half-time after creating an xG of 1.73 from their seven shots, hitting the target five times. The Toffees have enjoyed most of the possession (59.5 per cent) and have won 57.4 per cent of their duels. Calvert-Lewin has been instrumental in the attack, controlling the ball well high up the pitch and bringing others into play, registering two key passes. As for the Blades, they have only created an xG of 0.07 in a poor first-half display. The visitors have not put Everton under enough pressure, but most of that could be put down to the Toffees brilliant defending, with Branthwaite and Tarkowski winning eight of their 11 duels combined. Brereton-Diaz has been their best player since joining in January. However, he has not been involved enough. Everton are in control and have a win probability of 79.6 per cent.

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:55

Doucoure scored the only goal in the first half to give Everton a 1-0 lead over the Blades at Goodison Park. The Toffees had the best chances in the first 45 minutes, with Doucoure having two shots before scoring. The midfielder first headed a tame header straight at Foderingham before getting on the end of a cutback from Calvert-Lewin. However, his effort was stopped brilliantly by the goalkeeper. Nevertheless, he broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. McNeil found Calvert-Lewin with a throughball down the left, with the striker going around Foderingham before lifting a cross towards Doucoure, who scored an easy header from close range. Brooks then had a chance to level after tricking his way down the right side of the box, but his effort was pushed away by Pickford.

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:23

Gueye plays a short pass into McNeil before the winger looks to return possession to the Senegal international. Everton vs Sheffield United

15:18

Before today, Everton had the lowest shot conversion rate of any Premier League side this season (7.8 per cent). It’s their second lowest on record (since 1997-98) in a single campaign after 2005-06 (7.7 per cent). The Toffees have had the best chances so far but have lacked a clinical edge. Doucoure has already had two big opportunities.

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:16

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:10

This could be Coleman’s final match for Everton at Goodison Park, so it’s only correct that the defender starts and captains the side. He joined the club from Sligo Rovers in 2009 and has been an ever-present for the Toffees. He will want to make it a winning end to a memorable time at the club if he moves on at the end of the season. Fantastic atmosphere so far, but little quality from either side.

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:06

SAVE! Trusty fails to clear a header away and gives the ball straight to Calvert-Lewin, who gets down the right before skipping past the centre-back. The forward then attempts to lift a shot past Foderingham from a tight angle, but the goalkeeper makes a simple save.

Everton vs Sheffield United

15:04

The Blades win an early corner on the left after Branthwaite slides across to turn a low drive behind. Brooks looks to take it before Hamers swings a cross towards the near post, but Tarkowski heads it clear.

The Blades are routed to the bottom of the Premier League and are winless in their last 12 top-flight outings, losing their previous five matches. Chris Wilder’s side have taken the lead in their last three fixtures against Manchester United, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest before being comfortably beaten. United took the lead against the Tricky Trees through Ben Brereton-Diaz and created an xG (expected goals) of 2.27 compared to Forest’s 1.37 but were punished for missing too many chances. Callum Hudson-Odoi netted a brace on either side of Ryan Yates’ goal to complete the comeback, with the winger’s second strike marking the 100th time that the Blades have conceded in the Premier League this campaign. The visitors have only won three games this season and will finish on less than 20 points if they lose today.
