Eintracht Frankfurt 1-3 Barcelona: Defending champions come from behind to win in Germany

Barcelona are unbeaten in nine games in the Champions League

Barcelona came from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and extend their perfect start in the Champions League.

The defending champions dominated possession in the first half but struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised Frankfurt.

Somewhat against the run of play, hosts Frankfurt broke the deadlock shortly before half-time with Laura Freigang powering a header beyond Sandra Panos.

With the words of manager Jonatan Giraldez still ringing in their ears as they emerged for the second half, the defending champions Barcelona took just four minutes to draw level when Spain forward Salma Paralluelo rounded off a lovely team goal from close range.

Some lacklustre defending allowed Mariona Caldentey to pounce on a loose ball in the box to put Barcelona in front just shy of the hour mark.

Paralleulo stroked home the third after finding space near the penalty spot to ensure the visitors avoided a slip up in Germany.

Barcelona, who have won all 11 games across all competitions this season, lead the way in Group A with six points from their opening two matches with Frankfurt in second.

Benfica are third, trailing Frankfurt on goal difference, after bouncing back from their opening round 5-0 defeat against Barcelona to see off Rosengard 1-0 on Wednesday.

Portugal midfielder Kika Nazareth scored the only goal of the night at Benfica Campus.
