Dua Lipa shocks Glastonbury fans with huge surprise guest

Dua Lipa brought surprised fans with a huge surprise guest during her headline set at Glastonbury.

Now most of us were expecting to see the 28-year-old singer wheel out DJ Calvin Harris for a rendition of their hit track ‘One Kiss’.

But come on, that would just be too obvious.

This isn’t any old performance either, it’s a headline set at Glastonbury, which means Dua was of course going to pull out all stops and wow fans with a completely leftfield option.

Maybe she brought out Elton John you’re thinking, to make up for her absence at his set last year?

Nope, tonight Dua decided to surprise us by bringing out none other than Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker for a rendition of their song ‘The Less I Know the Better’.

We’re as speechless as you are.

Fans were of course shocked to see Kevin up on stage with her – after all several media outlets had were so sure it would be Calvin Harris – and wasted no time sharing their reactions on social media.

“THIS IS HISTORY BEING MADE, KEVIN PARKER AND DUA LIPA,” one person wrote, while a second person called the Dua/Tame Impala mash-up ‘magic’.

Kevin’s appearance may appear a little unusual to the casual viewer – but the collaboration comes of the back of the Tame Impala singer working on her new album Radical Optimism. Kevin is in credited as a writer for the song ‘End of an Era’ and as a producer for the album, Dua also recorded parts of the album at his home studio as well.

It just goes to show that it’s a small world when you’re famous.

Dua’s performance on the Pyramid Stage tonight proved to be a triumphant headline slot at for the singer, seven years after her previous performance at Worthy Farm.

The ‘Levitating’ singer featured at Glastonbury in 2017, with crowds bulging out of the John Peel Tent as they hoped to catch a glimpse of her. Considering that her celebrity status has risen astronomically in the years since thanks to a Grammy Award and acting debut, the Pyramid Stage is the perfect setting for her to stage return.

Playing a headline slot clearly meant a lot to Dua, with the ‘New Rules’ hitmaker telling fans that she had been ‘manifesting’ moment for years and had often ‘wondered’ what her songs would sound like when she was writing records.
