Diners ‘gutted’ as much-loved Greater Manchester restaurant shuts

Messages of support have poured in after a popular restaurant has announced its closure. Enzo’s Italian Bar and Restaurant opened its doors for the last time on Sunday (June 23), the ME.N. understands.

A much-loved spot on Castle Street in Tyldesley, Enzo’s was known for its Italian dishes, atmosphere and friendly service and was named after owner, Enzo Siggia. Over the years, it has become a staple in the community, and was recognised by its striking design of Italian flag colours plastered onto a renovated pub.

The spot was where celebratory meals were held for school leavers from the area. News of the restaurant’s closure was made on social media where many regulars took to the comments to voice their shock and disappointment.

One commenter said: “Maybe we should have supported it more, food excellent sad.” Another added: “Good luck Enzo all the best from everyone across the road at the lounge.”

A former regular also added: “Oh no what a shame loved going there, lovely food and people. So sorry for you all.”

While a devastated user said: “Oh no. Such sad news that it’s going to shut down.” Another person chimed in and said: “My mother and father in law are gutted they go once a week and was told this week.”

Another Facebook user said: “No! Loved it in there. The food was always so good.” While one someone else commented: “Aww no. I loved the beef stroganoff there and cocktails, gutted.”
