A popular Christmas attraction has announced tonight’s (Saturday) event is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. The Christmas at Wollaton light trail is closed tonight, as powerful wind gusts sweep the region.
The event opened last Friday (December 1) and promises to bring never-seen-before illuminated elements, creating an immersive experience for visitors. The attraction broke the news on its social media this afternoon.
A statement reads: “We were so excited to bring you the magic of Christmas at Wollaton, however, due to adverse weather conditions, we are unable to open on 09.12.23. Ticket holders will be contacted soon for alternative visit. We can’t wait to welcome you back.”

Dozens of people expressed their opinions about the event’s cancellation, with most people who were due to visit tonight saying they were ‘gutted’ by the ‘late notice’. One person said: “Appalling lack of notice! Already on road travelling from Lichfield when family members called to state it had been cancelled. I was at that point on the M1. Adverse weather! A total waste of fuel and time!”
Another customer found herself in a similar position. She said: “Drove all the way over to find it was cancelled, we didn’t get the email about it until we got back home, but late, plus I paid for car park. Do I get my money back for that?”
Another added: “Absolutely gutted, been so looking forward to this and we’d just pulled into Wollaton Hall when I got the email. Waste of petrol!” Someone else said: “Wish you said sooner. Hope we get a full refund this time.”
“Nothing like plenty of notice. Hope you act quicker in future because some of us have to travel over an hour,” said another. Other people found themselves in a luckier situation.
One visitor said: “Gutted but luckily we were able to find another day we could make. Others may not be so lucky as all weekends are basically full.” Someone else added: “Luckily I saw this and the email before we decided to leave and managed to find a date and time to move to.”
Christmas at Wollaton is open until December 31, with adult tickets ranging between £18.50 and £29.
