Coventry City striker Haji Wright has been confirmed as being out injured for today’s derby game against Leicester, with manager Mark Robins hopeful that the USA international won’t be too long on the sidelines. The Sky Blues’ leading scorer in the league suffered a groin issue at Middlesbrough on New Year’s Day and hasn’t been able to train since.
He was sent for a scan and the results show a tear in his adductor muscles which can mean a number of weeks on the sidelines to recover. However, Robins remains hopeful that the 25-year-old will be back sooner rather than later, saying: “He’s a lot better but not training just yet, although not too far away. Hopefully we can have him back pretty quickly, quicker than the scan results suggested.
“They are treating the symptoms, which are minimal, if anything at all at the moment. So I am hoping that we get him back quickly.”

Asked for more details as to the specific nature of he injury, he added: “It’s an adductor issue. The scan came back as a defined tear so by definition they just stick a number on it (in terms of weeks) but you can’t just do that because individuals are all different and I don’t like it because they put a date on it and it gets in a player’s head, and then they get back in that time.
“But if you keep that open, sometimes they get back quicker. And that’s what I’m hoping for. I am hoping he will be back in the next week or two.”
