Neil: “Just belief when you’re not losing games is important. (Angela Smith) started this press conference with the phrase, ‘If you can’t win, don’t lose’ and that was probably the first phrase I used with the players. If you don’t really do enough to win the game, don’t lose the game. That’s vitally important.
“But what you do need to understand as well is that Coventry have been on a bit of a poor run of late and you know going in this game that they are going to bee so determined. I thought both teams went at it, to be fair, particularly when the ref changed.
“The first ref gave every single foul going, I thought the second one gave no foul going so everybody just made it a bit of a free for all, which I don’t mind. I prefer that the game was played that way.
“And that meant it was end to end, to end to end. But every time you seem to think that they had an extra man, they took an extra touch oro made a bad pass and we took it over and we did the exact same going the other way.
“That moment of quality for either team just to unlock the door wasn’t there. If a goal happens, the game changes but because it was level it just went bump, bump, bump, bump and at that stage of hoping, let’s get the goal. We weren’t going to shut up shop, we wanted to try to get that goal.”
