Chloe Madeley looked downcast on Sunday morning as she made her first public appearance since confirming her five-year marriage to James Haskell is over.
The TV personality drew a line under her marriage in a joint statement shared with Instagram followers on Saturday, putting an end to weeks of speculation regarding the state of their relationship.
Venturing out in London, Madeley, 36, pulled a hood over her head as she called into a local coffee shop before returning to her parked car.
The mother-of-one is understood to be staying with her TV presenter parents Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan while Haskell, 38, remain at the marital home.
While Madeley was making her first appearance since confirming their separation, the former rugby player was sharing photos of their 14-month old daughter Bodhi on social media.
The infant – their only child – remained with Haskell on Saturday evening while he watched South Africa defeat New Zealand in the rugby World Cup final.
A source told The Sun: ‘Chloe and James have been fighting for a long time to make a go of their marriage.
‘Having a young baby, and James being away so often would take a toll on anyone. But some of James’s behaviour was upsetting, and he knows that.
‘The pair made the incredibly hard decision to call time so that they could focus on their daughter and being the best possible parents.
‘Things are completely civil between them, and they shall remain friends. Bodhi is their number one priority.’
In a joint update shared to Instagram, they announced: ‘Chloe and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023.
‘We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.’
She added: ‘Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time.
‘Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.’
Sharing his own statement to Instagram, Haskell added: ‘It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done.
‘My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.’
The former couple reunited at their home in north London on Wednesday, after Haskell spent the weekend in Paris for England’s semi-final match against South Africa.
They put on the appearance of a happy family as he took to Instagram on Tuesday to confirm they were both together at home after his trip.
Madeley was seen playing with the little one, while James shared some words of encouragement from behind the camera.
Captioning the post, he wrote: ‘Bodhi keeping the drive bye high-fives tight.’
A source told MailOnline: ‘James Haskell is still living at the family home in London, he arrived back on Monday and was still there yesterday morning.’
Madeley did not reveal the split while promoting her ITV show, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair but instead talked about their marriage as if they were still together.
One friend of the couple told MailOnline: ‘It is all so weird, and it all seems rather rum that Chloe did a round of interviews and talked very openly about her life and the marriage but she failed to say that she and James had split despite her television show being all about her family life.’
