Brush Fire Along 710 Freeway Out
Long Beach firefighters, with an assist from Los Angeles County firefighters, knocked down a brush fire along the Long Beach (710) Freeway Sunday.
The blaze that burned brush and trees along the 710 south of the transition with the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway was reported around 5 p.m., according to Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jake Heflin.
The fire temporarily shut down three freeway lanes. A SigAlert was issued by the California Highway Patrol.
Heflin said the county fire units were released around 6:15 p.m.
The SigAlert was canceled and the freeway lanes cleared around 7:15 p.m., according to the CHP.
No injuries were reported, Heflin said. No estimate on acreage burned was immediately available.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
