Britney Spears’ mother Lynne was seen shopping at discount store Dollar General this week – after being accused of selling off the star’s personal belongings for profit during estrangement.
Earlier this month DailyMail.com revealed the 68-year-old matriarch has continued cashing in on the pop star’s fame and success by hawking her clothing and accessories online and at a local consignment shop for the last five years, according to insiders.
Lynne, who is now back teaching elementary school kids and is said to be ‘struggling to pay her bills’ wore a terracotta sweater and slacks as she pushed a trolley full of items out of the store in Kentwood, Louisiana.
Lynne was seen loading items into her car before heading off.
Insiders told DailyMail.com earlier this month that Lynne has been selling the ‘Toxic’ singer’s favorite clothes since 2018, including, a hat Britney wore at the Billboard Awards in 2000, her Butterfly boots from the 2003 Kid’s Choice Awards and a top worn on TRL in 2002.
The possessions have allegedly been sold at Connie’s Jewelry and Gifts in Kentwood, Louisiana – which is owned by Britney’s childhood friend Cortney Brabham’s family – and the online site Poshmark.
The allegations were sure to come as a blow for the troubled hitmaker, 41, who has claimed her family sees her as nothing more than a ‘cashflow’ in her bombshell new memoir ‘The Woman in Me’.
Sources told the outlet Britney would be ‘fuming’ to learn her personal belongings are being sold.
The grandmother-of-five later took to Instagram to deny the claims after fans accused her of profiting off memorabilia belonging to Britney.
‘I’m not sure who told you I got rid of your dolls and journals but I would never do that!’ Lynne told Britney in her public post.
She continued: ‘That would be cruel because I know how much they mean to you. They are special to me too because of the years we spent collecting them.’
Making it clear that she is unable to reach the troubled pop star and does not appear to have an open line of communication with her, Lynne then asked Britney if she could return the items.
She concluded her post: ‘Of course I still have your things, and I am happy to send them to you if you’d like me to. Please let me know and know how much I love you!’
The post featured a carousel of images including an old journal, a vintage doll collection and ornate china.
Last week DailyMail.com also revealed Lynne is suing a ‘phony publicist’ and has applied for a restraining order after he allegedly infiltrated her tight inner circle to befriend and take advantage of Britney.
The suit, filed in District Court in Amite, Louisiana, by Lynne and friends Jansen Fitz, 40, and Tatum Solis, 48, alleges that they met Diamond in 2019 and he tricked his way into their ‘small social circle’ for the next ‘three years or so’.
The suit says that in July 2023, Diamond ‘began to act erratically and aggressively’ to them and their young kids and in one instance they threatened to call the police ‘to have him forcefully removed from their family home.’
Since then, they claim Diamond, 41, has published posts on social media, which paint them in an ‘excessively negative light’ and they now ‘fear for their safety.’
On Monday, Lynne’s suit was adjourned after a court heard that Diamond Katz did not hire a lawyer until last Friday afternoon.
His lawyer, Joseph Manning, explained to Tangipahoa Parish Judge Brenda Bedsole Ricks that he had not had time to discuss the case with his client and needed a continuance.
The case inched forward as it emerged that Diamond Katz is facing a separate criminal charge for making alleged terroristic threats in Johnson County, Texas on July 18 last year.
A complaint obtained by DailyMail.com accuses him of ‘stating I’m going to kill you mother f****r’, causing the alleged victim to fear imminent bodily harm.
The misdemeanor case was filed in February and is set for trial on December 5. The victim is not identified in the complaint.
Britney has made no secret of the fact she is no longer in touch with her family – specifically her father Jamie Spears, sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and her mother Lynne.
It comes as Britney’s former Kentwood, Louisiana home was put on the market for $1.2million last week.
It has been reported that a door at the childhood home emblazoned with ‘Christina sucks’ could fetch a whopping $30,000 at auction.
In Britney’s best-selling memoir The Woman In Me – she touches on how upset she was when her mother Lynne made money off ‘the darkest times’ in her life.
Britney trashed Lynne for writing her own tell-all book, 2008’s Through the Storm, saying she was ‘trading’ on her name following her well-publicized 2007 breakdown.
