Hello and welcome to this evening’s live blog as Bristol Rovers host Fleetwood Town in League One, searching for a third-straight win.
Victories at home to Oxford United and away at Exeter City have put Rovers back on track after a poor run of four consecutive league defeats and, once again, they’re looking up the table as they look to close the gap on the teams around them. Matt Taylor’s side are currently 10th but could go ninth if they win and Leyton Orient fail to beat Port Vale away.
With 17 games left to play this season in less than three months, Matt Taylor will have to manage his squad wisely in order to avoid risking any further long-term injuries after a campaign plagued with such issues. The returns of experienced heads James Wilson and George Friend have made a difference in the past two games but whether they will be risked ahead of a three-game week is yet to be seen.
As for Fleetwood, now under the management of former Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, they’re fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the table, sitting 23rd while being eight points from safety. They did, however, pick up a crucial 3-0 win over Port Vale last time out.
Follow along for build-up, news, updates and post-match reaction.

Matt Taylor on the performances of the three deadline day arrivals
“I thought Brandon was our one to go to again. I thought he showed his quality. We still want to get him high up the pitch but the circumstances with personnel that we’ve got at the moment isn’t allowing us to do that. We might be able to materialise that this weekend. I thought he showed moments of quality.
“I thought it was a difficult night for Harry. It never really came off for him and the game bypassed him a little bit so we’ll look for improvements in relation to that.
“Elkan was finding his feet in lower league football which is different to what he’s been playing. That first goal is just an example of being beaten in the channel so I think improvements from all but I think there’s a severe lack of capability in the group to back up a physical performance, which we had at the weekend, on a Tuesday night when the pressure is on.”
Daniel Hargraves
Matt Taylor on the decision to send Chris Martin off
“I’ve watched it. If he books Chrissy like he did, I’ve got no problem with that, but he’s got to book three or four other players including the two that were wrestling Chrissy and had hold of him in the goal and in and around the goal mouth to start with.
“We’ll accept that second booking and sending off but the consistency has to come with the other players getting booked as well.”
Daniel Hargraves
Matt Taylor’s verdict on the defeat
“Well, disappointed to lose the game. Unfortunately, we’ve followed a similar pattern that has happened too often this season where we’ve had a boost of a couple of good performances and victories to boot and then not being able to follow it up physically and game-wise.
“The bit of physicality against our backline, a couple of poor moments in terms of defending two crosses has led to the opposition being ahead. We still had the two best chances of the first half and then a real sucker punch of a set-piece goal against.
“As pressure came onto our game as always happened we’ve really struggled holding that pressure. Being able to play and execute and really in terms of our final third play from that point on. We were chasing the game and created very little.”

Quotes to come
Apologies for the delay. Getting everyone from both clubs in a position to film in the dry and then getting home and then getting dry has held everything up. Bear with.

Full-time: Bristol Rovers 0-2 Fleetwood Town
Boos ring out the Mem. That was poor in grim conditions. Fascinated to hear what Matt Taylor says about that one.
95Daniel Hargraves
Another good save from Lynch
Denies Evans directly from a free-kick.
94Daniel Hargraves
Chris Martin sent off
To wrap the game up. The striker is shown a second yellow card after handbags in the goal. Need clarification on what happened there.
90+1Daniel Hargraves
Four minutes added on
Not quite sure how it’s not more.
87Daniel Hargraves
Final Rovers switch
Harvey Vale comes off for George Friend.
83Daniel Hargraves
Good strong paw from Lynch
The goalkeeper denies Marquis one v one. Corner Gas.
80Daniel Hargraves
The pitch has certainly made an impact there
The ground literally prevents an Evans through ball from reaching its intended target.
77Daniel Hargraves
Nice ball from Evans
Good idea as he almost threads Thomas through but Lynch gathers first.
75Daniel Hargraves
Penalty shout for Rovers
Vale goes down in the box but nothing given.
74Daniel Hargraves
Another Gas change
Kamil Conteh is replaced by John Marquis. One of the Gas’ better players tonight.
74Daniel Hargraves
Took forever there
Linesman flags Chris Martin offside but it took forever for him to make a decision.
72Daniel Hargraves
The wind wins the Gas a corner
Evans’ ball in is punched out by Lynch when it looked like it was going wide.
71Daniel Hargraves
Brilliant from Vale
In a higher position, the attacking midfield covers a significant distance to eventually win a free-kick on the right-hand side of the box.
68Daniel Hargraves
Aguilera booked
Stopped a Fleetwood attack but a few of those have been built up. Would’ve been a soft call for that challenge alone.
66Daniel Hargraves
Gavin Kilkenny now in the book
66Daniel Hargraves
More on the changes
Bringing Grant and Gordon on has allowed Rovers to change their formation. The pair are playing right-back and left-back respectively with Crama and Baggott the two centre-backs.
62Daniel Hargraves
Double Gas change
Vaughan and Wilson off.
Gordon and Grant on.
61Daniel Hargraves
Ryan Broom shoots wide
Warning sign for the Gas who cannot afford to let another in.
58Daniel Hargraves
Cracking ball in from Evans
Again, no one really gambles but it gets a nick off a Fleetwood man for a corner that prevails to nothing.
57Daniel Hargraves
Yellow card for Elijah Campbell
Home fans want a red for a strong challenge on Tristan Crama. Did look nasty.
56Daniel Hargraves
This now really is dream land for Fleetwood
The first goal at this level is always so crucial and Fleetwood went into the second half in a great position, now they’re cruising. The game is exactly where they want it and they’ll be more than happy to let Rovers have more of the ball which so far hasn’t caused them any major issues.
52Key Event
Goal – Bristol Rovers 0-2 Fleetwood
Jayden Stockley scores directly from the corner.
52Daniel Hargraves
Fleetwood corner
Good block from Crama. That was dangerous as Coughlan was in all sorts of space to cross.
51Daniel Hargraves
Good start from the Gas
Find more gaps and playing with a better intensity. Just need to find the extra gear to convert that into chances.
49Daniel Hargraves
Jed Ward’s penalty area doesn’t look great
The weather has given that a pounding.
46Daniel Hargraves
Back underway
Fleetwood kick things off. Gas shooting towards the Thatcher’s End this half.
Daniel Hargraves
Players back out
Big half needed to change things.
HTDaniel Hargraves
That’s the half
Bristol Rovers need to buck up their ideas because this isn’t working. Fleetwood in a perfect position.
Daniel Hargraves
A bit of hit and hope at the moment
The long balls don’t seem to be working for the Gas here. Fleetwood perfectly happy to just head them away or see them out.
45+1Daniel Hargraves
Four minutes added on
Rovers pushing but struggling to actually create a clear chance. Fleetwood in an ideal position really.
42Daniel Hargraves
Another goalmouth scramble
No one had a stab at it for whatever reason.
42Daniel Hargraves
Important save from Lynch
Thomas sneaks into the box and puts in a cross that Lynch pushes away. Would’ve reached Vaughan for a tap in if he hadn’t.
38Daniel Hargraves
Rovers struggling to find meaningful gaps
Rovers are seeing more of the ball at the moment which Fleetwood are happy to let them do, but the gaps aren’t seeming to open up as the hosts seek an equaliser before half-time which they probably deserve.
33Daniel Hargraves
Nice work from Vaughan
The forward skips past his man after a short corner is played with an eventual ricochet falling to James Wilson who didn’t fancy the strike, setting up Kamil Conteh instead with Vaughan reaching the follow up after a deflection but from an offside position.
31Daniel Hargraves
Massive block from Fleetwood
Lovely from Aguilera to play through Thomas who takes a touch before attempting to shoot which probably gave the Fleetwood man enough time to get across. Corner Gas.
27Daniel Hargraves
Elkan Baggott goes in the book
Cynical foul from the Bristol Rovers defender apparently. Not sure about that one.
25Daniel Hargraves
Looks like he’s going off
That’s such a frustrating one for Hunt who only came back recently. Luke Thomas will be coming on.
23Daniel Hargraves
Jack Hunt down getting treatment
Gives Matt Taylor the chance to speak to some of his players. There have been a few bright moments but the defending has been poor so far from the Gas.
21Key Event
Goal – Bristol Rovers 0-1 Fleetwood Town
Abject defending as Bristol Rovers fail to get the ball away on numerous occasions before Ronan Coughlan slots home to give the visitors a crucial lead. They’ve deserved that.
Daniel Hargraves
Rest in peace Mason and Max
15Daniel Hargraves
Should be 1-0 Rovers
Lovely ball over the top from Tristan Crama finds Antony Evans in space whose square ball finds Chris Martin but his touch goes straight at Jay Lynch in goal. Point-blank save there – not sure he knew much about that.
13Daniel Hargraves
Fleetwood rattle the crossbar
Great strike from Brendan Wiredu but the defending was pretty abject.
10Daniel Hargraves
Goalmouth scramble
Baggott looked closest to the ball there but I don’t think a shot was registered there. Good ball in again from Vale.
Daniel Hargraves
Another free-kick opportunity
A bit deeper this one but Vale just body checked by Ryan Broom.
9Daniel Hargraves
Vale’s ball in
The wing-back puts in the delivery which evades everyone. Not a bad ball that, no one really went for it.
