BREAKING: Man ‘crossing the road’ is ‘hit by taxi’ as huge police cordon in place beside retail park

A busy main road in Manchester was cordoned off by emergency services on Thursday evening (December 7) after reports of a man being hit by a taxi.

Princess Road in Hulme was taped off by police and paramedics beside the retail park amid investigations into the collision, causing major delays in the area and congestion near to Mancunian Way.




A silver taxi was pictured within the cordon with a smashed windscreen. The Manchester Evening News understands a man was struck by the taxi when attempting to cross the busy main road.

After the collision, a number of ambulances were pictured at the scene as police tape was put up around the middle of the junction, opposite the ASDA store and KFC.

Officers could be seen conducting investigations at the scene for around an hour and inspecting the taxi, which had a badly damaged and cracked windscreen. It is not thought the pedestrian was seriously injured.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a full statement on the incident.
