A 15-year-old child and 42-year-old woman have been killed in a horror crash in Oldham. The smash happened on Ripponden Road, near junction 22 for the M62 towards Denshaw, at around 4pm yesterday (December 23).
Emergency crews rushed to the scene following the incident, said to have involved two cars. Tragically, the child and woman were pronounced dead. The child’s gender has not yet been revealed.

Another child – aged 13 – was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. A 35-year-old man – the driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, a BMW – was arrested on the scene.
He remains in custody to be quizzed by detectives. Police are now urging anyone who saw the black BMW X5 in the area leading up to the crash to get in touch.
Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) also want to speak to any witnesses, or anyone who might have dash cam, doorbell or CCTV footage. Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 2304 of 23/12/2023.
