Nexus is putting lost items, from jewellery to walking sticks, up for sale and will give the proceeds to charity
Bargain hunters have taken a trip to Tynemouth Market for a charity sale made up of items lost on the Metro.
A whole host of items that have been lost by passengers on the Tyne and Wear Metro and bus services over the past two years are available this weekend to raise money for charity. Transport operator Nexus has arranged a sale of lost property this Sunday, and alongside items such as a giant Santa – there was the likes of new clothing – still with tags on – and a range of footwear from football boots to slippers on offer.
Other items among the Nexus finds include headphones, sunglasses and jewellery such as rings, bracelets, costume pieces and watches. The lost property stand featured among the usual spread of stalls with hundreds of items for sale, including possessions lost on the Shields Ferry.
All proceeds made will be donated to its chosen charity of the year which is Bryson’s Animal Shelter in Gateshead. There, the money raised will be used to buy essentials such as dog and cat food and cleaning supplies and to cover vet bills.
