The Enquirer understands that around 40 jobs are currently at risk across the Western and London regions.
One BAM worker said: “We have been told the cuts are due to market conditions but internal communications have been telling us how well everything is looking going forward at the firm.”
Latest results at BAM showed the firm made a £13m loss at its UK construction business last year.
Earlier this year BAM confirmed that James Wimpenny, Executive Director, Construction, UK and Ireland Division decided to retire after a 38 year career at the firm.
A spokesperson for BAM said, “BAM prides itself on its commitment to predictable performance and creating a sustainable business. As with other organisations in the construction industry, BAM must remain flexible and adapt to the current market conditions which are challenging throughout the industry.
“We continuously review how we structure our operations to provide the best level of support for our clients and adapt to our customers needs. Unfortunately, this means we have had to make a small number of redundancies at this time.”
BAM currently employs 6,500 people across the UK and Ireland.
