Ascot Drive Derby reopens following serious crash – as it happened

A major Derby road was closed on Monday evening (May 13) following reports of a serious crash. The incident happened on Ascot Drive close to Dunstall Park Road.

Derbyshire Police said at 6.15pm: “The road is likely to be closed for some time and we would urge drivers to avoid the area, find alternative routes and allow extra time for any journeys.”

The road was completely closed in both directions between Wetherby Road and Sandown Road and there was queuing traffic in the area. The road was reported as fully reopened at 9.30pm.

It is unknown what vehicles were involved and if there were any serious injuries at this stage.

Alternative routes that motorists can use

Anyone who normally uses the route from Osmaston Road through to London Road via Ascot Drive will not be able to do so in the forseeable future while the emergency services attend the incident.

Instead, people can continue along London Road to Harvey Road and turn right at Spider island at Allenton to avoid Ascot Drive or vice versa by travelling along Osmaston Road and then travelling up Harvey Road to Alvaston and then back along London Road.

Traffic information service Inrix is also reporting that the road is closed and there is queuing traffic in the area.

Derbyshire Police have already said to avoid the area and to find alternative routes.
