Artist Daniel Arsham buys Terry Richardson’s NYC home
It’s the art of the deal.
Contemporary artist Daniel Arsham — who touts more than 1.3 million Instagram followers, and whose celeb fans include Usher, Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams — and his French-born wife Stephanie Jeanroy are the new owners of a $5.95 million residential Soho firehouse.
Arsham, who’s also involved in designing a real estate metaverse with Everyrealm and the Alexander Team known as The Row, bought the property, at 185 Lafayette St., last month for that sum, according to city property records.
The seller was disgraced fashion reporter Terry Richardson, who has been accused of sexual assault, harassment and exploitation by multiple young models over the years.
In July, Gimme Shelter reported that Richardson was parting ways with this property, a converted 19th-century structure once used by the FDNY, for about $5.5 million.
The 20-foot-wide, 2,800-square-foot landmarked “Firehouse in Soho” features one bedroom and two bathrooms. It’s anchored by a fire-engine-red lacquered spiral staircase.
The three-story home was built in the late 1880s and boasts a brick exterior with terracotta rosettes and a stone cornice, flanked by cast-iron pillars, the latter of which is a typical design feature in the neighborhood.
Richardson bought this property for $3.33 million in 2009, according to city records.
Broker Nick Gavin, of Compass, was involved in the off-market deal.
