After Jurgen Klopp bid farewell to the Liverpool supporters on Tuesday evening, the countdown is almost over for Arne Slot to begin work at Anfield.
The Dutchman takes the reigns with the squad in a good position having returned to Champions League football. Hopes of ending Klopp’s tenure on Merseyside with a Premier League title were ultimately dashed by Slot will be optimistic his team can be competitive again next season.
However, he will not be looking to keep everything the same and undoubtedly changes will have to be made. In the ECHO’s latest review of the media headlines, Slot may have mixed success with his ‘goals’.

Salah ‘top of the list for exit’
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has told ESPN FC that Mohamed Salah will be top of Slot’s list of players to sell in the summer transfer window. He explained: “I honestly believe that probably Mohamed Salah would be top of the list.
“Listen, if you’re going to get £100m for him, I think you take it.”
The ECHO says: Liverpool are still working under the assumption that Salah will be on the books next season as his contract enters its final year. The Egyptian has also been adamant on social media since the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers that he will be around next season. However, Nicol is right that Slot may well be of the opinion that Salah should be sold if £100m can be raised. It would be insane to reject that amount a money for a player who could leave for free in 2025. The question is, will that offer be put on the table?
Slot suffers backroom staff blow
According to Algemeen Dagblad, Slot could be prevented from bringing one of his trusted assistants to the club this summer. Etienne Reijnen is someone who the Dutchman enjoys working with but apparently does not have the requisite coaching qualifications to move to the Premier League.
Without these qualifications, it is also more difficult for Reijnen to gain the necessary work visa for the UK.
The ECHO says: This is perhaps one of the biggest setbacks for Slot when building his vision at Liverpool. In modern-day football, no one man can do every job alone. The head coach needs a team around him who he can trust and the former Feyenoord man will be gutted that Reijnen may not be able to join him on this new venture. Employing your coaching team is meant to be one of the more straightforward tasks for a new manager, sadly it looks like Slot may have to add another duty to his ever-increasing to-do list.
