Andy Robertson provides Liverpool injury update

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has provided an update on his injury.

The full-back has been sidelined since dislocating his shoulder on international duty in October. The Scotland captain required surgery and has missed the Reds’ last seven games as a result, with Kostas Tsimikas deputising at left-back.

Despite not being available for selection, Robertson can take solace in the fact that Scotland succeeded in securing qualification for Euro 2024 with two games to spare. The 29-year-old was in attendance at Hampden Park on Sunday as Steve Clarke’s side played their final group game against Norway and was asked about his recovery process.

“I’m getting there, slowly and surely. Surgery was a success which was the main thing, no complications from it or anything like that,” Robertson told Viaplay, prior to kick-off.

“It’s so far so good, three weeks since my surgery now so everything is progressing well, I have just got to take it bit by bit and week by week. Everything has went well up to this point and hopefully that continues. Hopefully, before we know it I’ll be back on the grass.”

However, when pushed to give a possible timeframe for his return, the defender insisted that he does not have a fixed date in mind. Instead, to ensure he avoids potential disappointment and makes a full recovery, Robertson explained that he is simply taking it one step at a time.
