Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Tottenham Hotspur face a big decision on the future of Jamie Donley this summer, with the youngster having emerged as a loan target for many EFL clubs.
Donley has had an outstanding campaign for Tottenham’s Under-21s, playing a crucial role in their path to Premier League 2 success.
Ange Postecoglou evidently rates the attacking midfielder very highly, with the Australian handing him three Premier League appearances last season (Transfermarkt).
According to Gold, Donley will head out on the pre-season tour to Korea and Japan with the senior squad this summer and Postecoglou is then expected to have a big decision to make regarding the 19-year-old.
Should Tottenham loan out Jamie Donley and Will Lankshear?
This is because plenty of suitors have expressed an intention to sign the Tottenham academy graduate on loan, with the Spurs head coach having to decide between giving him minutes in the Europa League and sending him out on loan so that he can get regular competitive game time under his belt.
The journalist adds that Tottenham might also have similarly tough decisions to make on fellow Under-21 star Will Lankshear, who is also said to be a wanted man among lower-league clubs.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would not be surprised if the likes of Lankshear, Donley and even Devine remained at the club for the first half of the season so that they could get minutes in the Europa League. The club might decide to send these youngsters out on loan in January instead.
