Adele has revealed her plans to end her self-imposed alcohol ban as she enjoys a break from her Las Vegas residency.
Last month the star revealed that she had been sober for over three months but missed having a drink.
Speaking to the crowd at The Colosseum Caesar Palace in Las Vegas ahead of her upcoming break from her Weekends With Adele gigs, the star explained how she was excited to have a tipple again now she has some time off.
She told the crowd that she plans to celebrate the end of the second leg of her shows: ‘I’m just going to chill. I’m annoyed as well that I’m sick because this is red wine weather,’ she said.
‘I stopped drinking, but obviously now I’m ready to start again because it is my break.’
Adele said she has been forced to cut out her favourite drink of red wine because it plays havoc with her voice.
‘I can’t drink red wine ever when I’m singing because I don’t know about you, but red wine f***s me up. I cannot handle it,’ she explained, adding her drink of choice is now half sparkling water and half white wine with ice.
‘A glass of red wine tips me over the edge. I have the worst hangover, my whole mouth and tongue turns red. I look like a disaster and it just gets rid of my voice.’
Revealing she has been battling illness, Adele said she had an expensive bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine stored away but she will have to wait to ‘treat myself’.
In October Adele revealed she had stopped drinking for three and a half months and claimed she was ‘borderline alcoholic’ when she was in her 20s.’
Adele, 35, told the crowd at one of her Vegas gigs: ‘I stopped drinking maybe like three and a half months ago. It’s boring. I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my twenties, but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine.’
Talking to a fan who was drinking all day she added: ‘So enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous.’
In March, Adele revealed she once drank four bottles of wine before lunch during a Covid-19 lockdown.
She was holding a glass of wine on stage in Las Vegas while making the confession.
According to the Daily Star, she told fans: ‘I remember when I came here in Covid, in lockdown, it was 11am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in – like we all were.
‘I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically.’
In February 2022, drunk Adele was left sobbing after overindulging in drinks at a gay bar in London, where she stripped down to her bra, pole-danced on stage in front of topless dancers, fell over and addressed the BRIT Award controversy.
