A multi-vehicle accident on a main Nottinghamshire road left the A38 closed in both directions. Traffic monitoring service, Inrix, believed the incident to have taken place at around 12.30pm on Saturday (March 2).
Following the closure of the road, Ashfield police released a statement that read: “Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 12.25pm on Saturday, March 2 to the report of the collision involving a number of vehicles. The injuries of those involved are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.”
The road was reopened at around 3pm. Ashfield police added another statement shortly afterwards stating: “Thanks to the dedicated work from East Midlands Ambulance Service, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police, the A38 Junction in which a collision took place has now been cleared, sooner than expected.
“Diversions that were in place have now been lifted, and traffic is now flowing again in both directions. However, drivers are still urged to avoid the area for the next few hours, to allow for traffic to return to normal levels and prevent further issues arising.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision, has any information or believes they may have captured the incident on dashcam footage is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 272 of 02/03/2024.”

The road has now reopened

A three-vehicle accident on a major Nottingham roundabout has left the A52 closed in both directions. Traffic monitoring service, Inrix, says there is queuing traffic in the area as a recovery teams look to clear the road.

Ashfield Fire Station has released images from the incident and shared an update to its Facebook page. The statement reads: “Both Appliances from Ashfield are in attendance at an RTC on the A38 between Penny Emma Way and The Ego junction. One side of the A38 is closed, traffic is building. Please avoid the area.”

According to Google Maps, traffic along the A38 Kings Mill Road is at a standstill, with queuing traffic seen around Kirkby Road. Drivers are advised to stay away from the A38 junction near to Ashfield Fire Station.
