As well as millions of other people in the UK, I suffer with anxiety, and I’m often looking for natural ways to help reduce it.
After some solid research, I came across a vitamin called ‘Ashwagandha’ that was widely recommended to take before sleep. Anxiety can be absolutely exhausting when it comes to trying to get some shut eye, so despite being a tad dubious about the vitamin, I thought I’d give it a try.
I’ve always been super lazy with vitamins which I probably shouldn’t admit to, but I really wanted to try and set up a relaxing sleep routine to help my broken sleep. This vitamin seemed like a good start, so I purchased a tub and have honestly never looked back.

What is Ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha contains chemicals that might help calm the brain, reduce swelling, lower blood pressure, and alter the immune system. Since Ashwagandha is traditionally used as an adaptogen, it is used for many conditions related to stress. Adaptogens are believed to help the body resist physical and mental stress.
This particular form of Ashwaganda that I purchased is a full-spectrum root extract, with one of the highest concentrations available. It delivers 500mg of Ashwagandha root per capsule, delivering the benefits of the traditional herb in a quick and easy way.
The supplements have soared in popularity as a natural remedy, particularly taking the TikTok world by storm. I started taking this vitamin about a month ago every night without fail, and the benefits have been huge.
The verdict
Don’t get me wrong, the vitamin didn’t cure my issues with mental health, but it certainly helped my sleeping pattern. I’d usually combine taking the vitamin with a nice sleepy tea and a book, to really get my brain settled and relaxed.
I found that just after a month of use, my sleeping pattern was less broken and I felt more refreshed in the morning. Again, this vitamin hasn’t stopped my broken sleep completely, but I’ve seen a massive difference since taking the supplement.
I simply take it about an hour before sleep, and go about my usual routine. The vitamin doesn’t particularly taste of anything, which is always a bonus.
I’m not saying that this vitamin is the answer to anxiety, but I personally feel like it’s really helped with the nasty sleep side effects of the mental health condition. I hope one day, I won’t feel the need to take vitamins like this, but right now, it’s a comforting herbal solution that I swear by.
Always consult your GP before taking new vitamins or supplements.
