Remko Pasveer’s comments are likely to go down well with Roy Keane after the Ajax star saved five penalties against Panathinaikos on Thursday night.
The fixture in Amsterdam went to the shootout after the Greek side had won 1-0 to make it 1-1 on aggregate.
And Pasveer established himself as an Ajax hero, with the 40-year-old spectacularly saving five penalties – and scoring one of his own – as his side scraped their way into the next round of Europa League qualifying.
It was a stunning performance from the veteran, who has often found himself stuck behind Jay Gorter in the pecking order in recent years.

Keane has often downplayed the importance of goalkeepers, saying it is their ‘job’ to make saves.
And Pasveer said something similar on Thursday after his heroic display, with the former Vitesse and PSV star saying: “That’s my job, right? [to save penalties].”
Pasveer reveals he enjoyed himself, with the goalkeeper confessing to winking to Wesley Sneijder – who was working as a pundit for Ziggo Sport.
“So many penalties, and then another miss, another miss, another miss,” he continued.

“I even winked to Sneijder during the shoot-out.”
Ajax star Jordan Henderson was part of the Liverpool side that beat Chelsea 11-10 on penalties to win the Carabao Cup in 2022.
He admits this was a similarly nerve-wracking experience, with the England international pleased with the result.
And Henderson also revealed he was more than happy to let team-mate Anton Gaaei ‘take the glory’ by scoring the decisive spot-kick.

“34 penalties.. I played for Liverpool and had a long one vs Chelsea, but I’m not sure it was this long,” he said.
“Pasveer kept saving and we kept missing!
“After Brian Brobbey missed, Anton Gaaei said to me: if they score now, you can take it, but if they miss, can I take it?
“I said sure, go take the glory. And he is probably better at penalties anyway. He deserves it, he’s a great lad.”
