Walsall police incident live as officers seal off huge area

Police have sealed off land in front of a number of houses in Walsall. It follows a fatal shooting less than two miles away.

West Midlands Police were seen protecting the area, which is off Stephenson Avenue, today, Tuesday, July 9. An officer in a white forensic suit was also spotted at the scene.

It comes after a man in his 20s – named locally as Connor Brookes – died in a shooting on Well Lane in Blakenall, Bloxwich, on Monday, July 8, as police launched a murder investigation. Two boys, aged 17, and an 18-year-old man were held by detectives.


It was not clear if the police scene off Stephenson Avenue today was linked to the shooting last night. BirminghamLive has asked the West Midlands force for more information.

Fatal shooting last night

It is not clear if the police cordon is linked to a fatal shooting of a man, aged in his 20s, less than two-miles away on Well Lane, in Blakenall, last night.
