LCD Soundsystem play euphoric set watched by Noel Gallagher and Dave Grohl

LCD Soundsystem have performed a euphoric set at this year’s edition of Glastonbury with the likes of Dave Grohl and Noel Gallagher watching side-stage.

James Murphy and co took over the Pyramid Stage at the annual music festival, kicking off their set with their hits such as ‘Oh Baby’, ‘I Can Change’ and ‘On Repeat’.

At the beginning of their set, the Foo Fighters frontman was spotted standing at the side of the stage watching the NYC band play to a massive crowd. This marks the third year in a row Grohl has appeared at the Worthy Farm music festival.

Elsewhere in the side stage section, Gallagher was also spotted sporting thick black frames and his signature straight-faced look. “Why Is Noel Gallagher Backstage At Glastonbury Watching LCD Soundsystem,” tweeted one viewer, while another shared: “Haha, Noel Gallagher on side stage trying to learn how it’s done watching LCD Soundsystem at Glastonbury!”

The group performed to a gigantic crowd with Murphy sharing: “It’s nice to see you all. You outnumbered us again but we’ve got stuff and speakers so we’ll do our best to match you.”

LCD Soundsystem went on to play a setlist full of their hits such as ‘Tribulations’, ‘Tonite’, ‘Losing My Edge’ (with Suicide’s ‘Ghost Rider; and Daft Punk‘s ‘Robot Rock’ samples) ‘Home’, ‘Someone Great’, ‘Dance Yrself Clean’ and ‘All My Friends’.

In a five-star review of the set, NME wrote of the closing: “The packed-out Pyramid field hold each other tight and reach for the sky as LCD’s 10 song masterclass naturally ends with ‘All My Friends’. This song and this moment are the manifestation of Glastonbury at its best, the memories in the making and the good times and still to come: “And if the sun comes up and I still don’t wanna stagger home, then it’s the memory of our betters that are keeping us on our feet.” That’s how it starts.”

LCD Soundsystem’s Glastonbury 2024 setlist was:

‘Oh Baby’
‘I Can Change’

‘Tribulations’
‘Tonite’
‘Losing My Edge'(with Suicide’s ‘Ghost Rider; and Daft Punk’s ‘Robot Rock’ samples)

‘Dance Yrself Clean’
‘All My Friends

In other Glastonbury news, Kings Of Leon have been seemingly teasing a secret set at this year’s edition of the music fest.

Today (June 28), the band have taken to social media to share a video of their performance at Worthy Park in 2008. In the accompanying caption, they teased that they aren’t too far from the festival grounds: “Had a great time at Glastonbury in 2008. It’s only a short trip away from our little gig at Hyde Park…”

Elsewhere, Kenya Grace covered Britney Spears, Daniel Bedingfield and more during her first-ever Glastonbury set.
