Armed police have stormed a Birmingham street this evening. Officers and sniffer dogs were spotted as a police cordon was set up in Harborne.
Emergency services rushed to Northfield Road, near to the High Street and just past the island, after 4pm, today, Wednesday, May 22. Officers with machine guns were seen near marked and unmarked police cars parked on the street.
Witnesses claimed that fully armed officers “entered a property with guns drawn.” BirminghamLive has approached West Midlands Police for comment.

One eye-witness told BirminghamLive: “Armed police and paramedics were on the scene, along with K9 and other specialists. We stayed around for 30 minutes and saw quite a few vehicles go into the scene and they kept extending the cordon. It was a very peculiar situation.” Another added: “There’s a huge police presence. I’m not sure what has occurred.”
A different witness posted on Facebook: “They took out two dogs and a puppy from the house and only then went in. I think six of them, fully armed with guns drawn.” It is not clear if any arrests were made. Locals said that the road was reopened after 7.15pm.
