A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in the face in Old Swan.
Emergency services were called to Haslingden Close, at around 4.30pm on Monday, January 29 after a man was shot in the face inside a flat. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man from Liverpool has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody where he will be questioned by detectives.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Pye said: “Since this incident was first reported to us, we have been relentless in our pursuit to find the person responsible and can now confirm that we have arrested a man in connection to the shooting.
“Although we have made this arrest, our investigation is ongoing and we are still appealing for anyone with information about this incident to please get in touch.
“We understand the fear incidents like this bring to those who live nearby, and I’d like to reassure residents that we will leave no stone unturned when targeting those who are prepared to use firearms to endanger the lives of people in our community with the use of firearms.
“We simply will not tolerate the use of firearms in Merseyside, and will relentlessly pursue anyone who uses them to cause fear and harm in the heart of our communities.”
Officers making enquiries linked to the shootings have already arrested two people on suspicion of drug offences. A Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was carried out at a flat on Back Colquitt Street in Liverpool city centre at 12.30am on Thursday, February 1.
Cash, a large amount of cannabis, a flick knife and high value items such as a watch were found and seized. A 28-year-old man, from Liverpool, and a 37-year-old woman, from Widnes, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis), possession of criminal property and possession of a bladed article in a dwelling.
They have been taken into custody to be interviewed.
Previously, a 53-year-old man, from Garston, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, and possession of criminal property. A 51-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug. They have both been conditionally bailed.
