He was emotionally reunited with his bride-to-be after 17 days in the jungle.
But I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! star Fred Sirieix may have found himself in the dog house with his fiancée Fruitcake, after she revealed he wasn’t supposed to share their wedding plans in the jungle.
In scenes broadcast during Wednesday’s Coming Out Show, Fruitcake admitted that plans for their big day were meant to be kept ‘just between the family.’
As she prepared to reunite with Fred after his eviction, Fruitcake added that she was ‘surprised’ he decided to share their wedding plans on the show.
During his time in the jungle, Fred shared that he and Fruitcake are hoping to finally marry in Jamaica next year, after being forced to cancel their nuptials due to the Covid pandemic.
In scenes that aired on Tuesday night, Marvin, Fred and Sam had a chat about meeting their partners.
Marvin asked: ‘What was your first date with Zara [McDermott]?’ leading Sam to describe a dinner date he had with the Love Island star.
He said: ‘We got loads of sake, started singing in the restaurant. We were a little bit drunk and I asked her if I could kiss her.’
Of how they first started speaking, Sam said: ‘Fred, I’m going to be honest with you mate, it was really romantic… she slid into my DMs.
‘This is so lame. I liked a couple of her photos to just to sort of let her know I was alive and she followed me on Instagram… then I said to her, ”Look I’m going to be really honest with you I’m really bad at this digital texting stuff, I’m going to get it wrong soon, can I take you out on a date…?”
Of meeting his now wife, Marvin said: ‘I met Rochelle when JLS and The Saturdays were doing shows together.
‘I’d always said to the boys, ”I really like her, I think she’s hot”. We went to a nightclub in Ireland after doing a show together one night and we were just chatting, getting on really well. She went to the toilet, right?
‘She left her handbag at the table with me. So then, I thought, right, got her phone out and called myself so I had her phone number. It took about three months of pestering her to get a date.
‘[Our first date was] McDonald’s car park in Wembley… that was our first date. Here we are 13 and a bit years later, three kids… I’m very, very lucky.’
Fred then shared: ‘I’ve never had a bad date. But the way I met Fruitcake, I met her in Peckham… I was walking up and she was smiling at me and I was smiling at her and I liked her eyes… I just had to talk to her… I asked for her number, I said, ”Shall we go for a drink tonight?” That was nine years ago. We’re getting married next year in Jamaica.’
Sam said: ‘Shall we go Vegas [for the stag]?’
Fred laughed: ‘That’s the place!’
Sam said: ‘We’re going Vegas! If you let me organise it, I promise you you’ll have the best time ever.’
Marvin laughed: ‘I’d love to see Sam’s organisation of Fred Siriex’s stag. That’ll be next level.’
Back in July 2020, Fred revealed that he and Fruitcake had cancelled their wedding, and were planning to wait until the end of the Covid pandemic to exchange their vows.
Fred also revealed that due to lockdown he couldn’t present his fiancé with a ring when he popped the question, but luckily she still said yes.
Speaking about his delayed nuptials, Fred told Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway: We’re waiting to see when we can travel because it’s important for all of our friends and family [to be there].
‘We have to be patient and see what is going to happen – it is out of our control. But we are planning for early 2022 now.
‘It’s going to be great. I can’t wait. It’s just going to be very exciting.’
Fred said they are in the early stages of planning the big day, but are in ‘no rush’ to tie the knot.
He added: ‘We have slowly started looking at wedding venues and where we are going to do it. But there’s no rush and we are keeping all of our options open.’
On the moment he proposed to his beloved ‘fruitcake,’ Fred said he originally popped the question without a ring due to the restrictions put in place during lockdown.
He said: ‘It was perfect because she said yes – that’s the main thing. The only thing is though is I did not get a ring.
‘But I’ve now managed to do it because we are out of lockdown so the ring is there and she is very happy. So all is well!”
In March 2020, Fred first revealed that he was engaged to his girlfriend of two years, writing on Instagram: ‘#fruitcake❤️ said yes!’
