A Volkswagen has ploughed through the front of the Boots store on the Edge Lane retail park.
An image seen by the ECHO showed the car had gone through the front entrance to the store in Edge Lane. Broken glass and debris from the shop frontage cover the floor, while a broken metal bollard is bent out of shape.
Crowds of onlookers have surrounded the shop, while security guards and shop workers are stood at the entrance. One eyewitness described the ongoing incident as “bedlam”.

The ECHO first received reports of the incident shortly before 2.30pm today, Wednesday, December 7. The ECHO has contacted Merseyside Police for more information regarding the ongoing incident.
