Amazon Prime Video has announced that they are cancelling three popular shows, leaving fans devastated.
The streaming service revealed that The Horror of Dolores Roach, With Love, Harlan Coben’s Shelter have all been axed.
The Horror of Dolores Roach was released in July, and told the story of Justina Machado’s Dolores, who is released from prison after serving an unjust 16-year sentence.
The dark comedy horror was a hit with fans and critics alike, with the performances being praised and The Guardian calling it a ‘hugely fun drama’.
With Love aired for two seasons, with first premiering in December 2021 and the second dropping in June this year.
The romantic comedy followed Diaz siblings, Lily and Jorge, on their quest to find love and purpose during the holidays, including Christmas, New Year’s and Valentine’s Day.
The series became popular with viewers and was nominated for the Outstanding New TV Series category for the 33rd GLAAD Media Awards in 2022.
Harlan Coben’s Shelter was the latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel and was released in August.
The mystery drama starred Jaden Michael and Constance Zimmer and followed student Mickey Bolitar who moved to New Jersey, where he becomes caught up in the mysterious disappearance of classmate Ashley Kent.
It marks the sixth series based on Harlan’s works, with the next adaptation, Fool Me Once, set to be released on rival service Netflix in January next year.
Fans were furious by the news that their favourite shows were being culled, complaining that the stories will now go unresolved and ‘now we won’t know what happened!’
Several took to Twitter to voice their disappointment and anger, threatening to cancel their Amazon Prime memberships in response.
One person wrote: ‘Why does this keeps happening to me??? I follow in love with shows and then they get canceled. Why???? I had such an awesome time watching Harlan Coben’s Shelter and The Horror of Dolores Roach’.
Another added: ‘Loved watching The Horror of Dolores Roach. An unwise decision, if true. I think it received plenty of critical acclaim in addition to audience appreciation.’
A third wrote: ‘Nooo I am so invested in With Love!! so sorry to hear about all of these, ugh’ and another said: ‘Can my shows stop being cancelled on fkn cliffhangers. it’s exhausting’.
A fifth complained: ‘Not Dolores Roach!!!! How am I supposed to know if she gets her revenge’ with a sixth adding: ‘No I loved Shelter! Now we won’t know what happened!’
Someone else tweeted: ‘bro i just started watching shelter…amazon you will be bankrupt’ while another echoed: ‘ just saw u canceled #harlancobenshelter that is c**p!!!! One of the best shows out there n u cancel after 1 season!!! Rethinking my membership’.
A ninth person wrote: ‘May the wrath of Dolores Roach come down on all of this. And With Love was such a sweet, snuggly show. I hate that we won’t have any more of that one either.’
While a tenth commented: ‘I finished s1 of The Horror Of Dolores Roach today. I was so excited for s2 to find out it got CANCELLED. You owe me an ending’.
And another viewer argued: ‘S**t. Shelter and Dolores Roach were so good… we are losing so many amazing shows just because there is so much there is literally no promotion for half of it. The golden era of TV literally drowned itself before it could burst’.
It comes despite viewers heaping praise on Shelter in September after binge-watching the suspenseful drama and taking to social media to beg for there to be a second series.
One person penned: ‘The series Shelter on Amazon was a really good. I hope it gets a season 2’, while another tweeted: ‘Shelter on Amazon Prime is so far so good.’
‘Everybody should immediately start watching SHELTER on Amazon prime video 5 episodes are out so far and 3 more to go I’d love a season 2 if you’re into mystery shows watch!! It’s very entertaining’ said a third.
A fourth watcher gushed: ‘#HarlanCoben #Shelter on #AmazonPrime is the best thing on tv at the mo. Absolutely hooked.’
With another adding: ‘im only 4 episodes in but i need everyone to stream harlan coben’s shelter on amazon so i get a season 2.’
