Samsung Galaxy S24’s lock screen could give direct access to Instagram camera

Samsung is said to be bringing several AI features to the Galaxy S24, and the company has already announced one of those AI-powered features. However, AI is not the only thing that the company is working on. It appears that Samsung is working with Instagram for deeper social media integration.

With the Galaxy S10, Samsung introduced a way to directly capture photos and videos from the phone’s native camera app and upload them to Instagram Stories. With the Galaxy S24, the company seems to be going one step further by integrating Instagram into the phone’s lock screen. Users may be able to access Instagram’s camera mode directly from the Galaxy S24’s lock screen. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi was able to find this feature in the Instagram app for Android.

Apparently, the Galaxy S24 will have an option in the Settings menu that lets users set the Instagram Camera mode as one of the phone’s lock screen shortcuts. This feature may be introduced when users of the phone open the Instagram app for the first time. There is a pop-up menu that lets users try it. There may be more features and integrations with the Instagram app, and they could be revealed in early January when Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S24 series.

It is usually seen that the iPhone works better with social media apps. For example, the image and video quality captured using a social media app like Instagram or Snapchat is generally better on iPhones. However, Samsung is trying to negate the iPhone advantage by working with social media platforms. It has worked with Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok to improve image and video quality through Night Mode integration and more.

Author’s Note: Samsung has always worked closely with Meta, so it isn’t surprising to see that Galaxy S24 will have a lock screen shortcut that takes users directly to Instagram’s camera mode. We could see more such integrations on the company’s next flagship smartphone lineup with apps from Meta, Microsoft, and Google.
