Live updates as Bristol Airport suspends all flights

Passengers set to fly from Bristol Airport are facing serious disruption this morning (Tuesday, November 7) as a technical issue has halted flights. The airport says flights will be suspended until around 8am due to the incident involving airfield lighting equipment.

Customers have been urged to contact their airline for the latest on their flight. In a statement on X – formerly Twitter – a Bristol Airport spokesperson said: “Due to technical problems with the airfield lighting equipment, flight operations have been suspended until 08:00hr this morning. We will continue to update as the situation progresses.

The runway is now open, airport confirms

List of late arrivals

Flights to Bristol Airport from Amsterdam and Dublin have been delayed. The Amsterdam flight was scheduled to arrive at 7.20am and will now arrive at 8.11am. The Aer Lingus Dublin flight due to land at 7.35am is now estimated to arrive at 8.09am. The Ryanair flight from Dublin to Bristol due at 9.35am is now due at 10.35am. The Ryanair flight from Krakow due at 12.40pm is now expected to arrive at 1.40pm.

Several flights are now ‘boarding’

A live departure board on Bristol Airport’s website shows that a number of flights are now boarding.

These include flights to Amsterdam, Faro and Tenerife.

List of flights delayed

The following flights have been delayed: Lanzarote, Amsterdam, Malaga, Faro, Edinburgh, Belfast International, Glasgow, Tenerife, Dublin, Krakow, Alicante, Paris Orly and Dublin.

Around 15 departure flights affected

At the time of publication, a live departure board on the Bristol Airport website shows that around 15 flights due to leave the airport have been impacted.

These include flights heading for Dublin, Krakow and Alicante.

Passengers urged to check with airline for latest travel information

Roads traffic monitoring service, Inrix reports: “Flights suspended at Bristol Airport due to problems with the airport lighting equipment.

“Reports suggest that the runway lights are not working. Departures are being held until at least 0800. The first arrivals are not scheduled until around 0730 but they will be disrupted. Check the status of your flight before heading to the airport.”
