Police have closed a busy road in Wavertree tonight following reports that a car has hit a pedestrian.
A large police presence is outside The Durning Arms pub, with Wavertree Road closed off to traffic.
Arriva North West tweeted that buses would be diverted because of the police incident. They said: “Due to a Police Incident on Wavertree Road Service 79/ 79C will divert via Edge Lane and Innovation Boulevard in both directions.”
The condition of the pedestrian and the occupants of the car is not yet known.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, and for any CCTV, doorbell and dash camera footage which may have captured the incident and assist their investigation.
