There are major delays on the M6 this evening, November 1, following a crash involving a lorry and a car. Two lanes are closed on the M6 at Wolverhampton, causing huge delays for West Midlands motorists.
One motorist caught up in the chaos told BirminghamLive traffic was at a complete “standstill.” The hold up is between J10 (Wolverhampton/Walsall) and J9 (Wednesbury), with congestion backing up to previous junctions.
Live traffic systems report long delays and two lanes currently closed due to the incident, which involved a lorry and a car on M6 Southbound. West Midlands Roads has released an update to motorists this evening to recommend they plan ahead as congestion is stretching back towards the M54.

How long are delays?
Live traffic systems report long delays and two lanes currently closed due to the incident, which involved a lorry and a car on M6 Southbound. Delays of forty minutes were reported, although traffic is now no longer being held.
West Midlands Roads said: ” M6 southbound between J10 (Wolverhampton/Walsall) and J9 (Wednesbury). Road traffic collision. Traffic held due this incident. Delays can be seen back towards J10A (M54) & impacting local routes from traffic avoiding M6.”

Live traffic system Inrix warns of traffic being held this evening and following that, lane closures. The latest update states: “Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident, a lorry and a car involved on M6 Southbound between J10 A454 Wolverhampton Road (Wolverhampton / Walsall) and J9 A461 Wood Green Road ( Wednesbury ). Congestion to J10A (M54 interchange). Traffic was held for around forty minutes, after which lanes two and three (of three) remain closed.”
